KLAVIEREN IN ZUTPHEN
Nieuw in het Seizoen Oude Muziek: Klavieren in Zutphen. Een feestelijke zaterdag lang zijn we te gast in deze oude stad, waar jong talent zal spelen op de historische instrumenten van het Geelvinck Muziek Museum. Deze collectie bevat een rijkdom aan fortepiano’s en tafelpiano’s, de eerste rechtopstaande piano’s en pianola’s.
In de schijnwerpers tijdens deze eerste editie: Felix en Fanny Mendelssohn. Broer en zus waren muzikale wonderkinderen. Als man kon Felix zijn talenten veel makkelijker ontwikkelen, maar Fanny’s composities zijn even fascinerend. Hun sonates en vooral de Lieder ohne Worte behoren tot het geliefde pianorepertoire dat op deze dag zal klinken.

« Si Frédéric Chopin a « inventé » le piano moderne au XIXe siècle et notamment sa virtuosité, il faudra attendre Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen et Iannis Xenakis pour une nouvelle transformation du piano ». Ce concert illustrera et confirmera cette conviction d’Olivier Messiaen.
Le piano, peut-être plus que tout autre instrument, a stimulé l’intérêt des compositeurs pour ses possibilités techniques. Mais deux écoles s’affrontent : celle des compositeurs pianistes, qui privilégient la tactilité du clavier et celle des compositeurs plus conceptuels, qui s’appuient sur l’écriture. Mais finalement, les deux questionnent l’instrument de la même manière. Du refus de faire passer les limites techniques et physiques devant le projet compositionnel, naît la virtuosité.
Sous les doigts de Claudia Chan cette virtuosité est constamment renouvelée : chez Xenakis ou Mark Andre, elle se déploie tant dans la complexité rythmique que dans la richesse des modes de jeux et l’inventivité de l’écriture.
Laura Fernández Granero et Benjamin D’Anfray ont pu profiter de l’enseignement d’Edoardo Torbianelli à Royaumont au cours d’ateliers consacrés à l’esthétique si particulière de Frédéric Chopin. Bel canto, rubato, technique pianistique ont pu être approfondis sur les pianos de la collection du restaurateur Edwin Beunk.

Chanter à quatre mains
De nos jours il arrive encore souvent d’entendre un professeur de piano exhorter ses élèves à jouer de manière chantante. «Il faut chanter avec les doigts!» répétait Chopin inlassablement. Chanter, oui, mais comment ? De toute évidence, l’esthétique des écoles de chant évolua depuis le dix-neuvième siècle et la manière dont on chantait et déclamait à l’époque de Chopin reste voilée pour nous. Le but de ce concert et de ces jours de recherche est l’immersion dans l’imaginaire romantique et de se plonger dans le répertoire de solo et de quatre mains pour piano d’inspiration vocale.

Grabaciones históricas, una puerta al siglo XIX... ¿y al siglo XVIII?
Del siglo XIX, al contrario que en otras épocas, nos han quedado testimonios de cómo tocaba…n intérpretes y hasta los propios compositores gracias a las grabaciones existentes. ¿Podemos encontrar algunas similitudes entre las descripciones de las fuentes escritas en el así llamado periodo clásico y estas grabaciones? ¿Están los intérpretes HIP de hoy en día especializados en el periodo clásico más cercanos a las prácticas interpretativas de finales del XVIII y principios del siglo XIX? Sin pretender ofrecer respuestas cerradas, os invito a pasar un rato escuchando grabaciones, en mi opinión, bellas y fascinantes, y a reflexionar en torno a ellas.

LONDRES 1820 : CLEMENTI-BOMTEMPO
« Quel est cet Amphyon nouveau… que tout cède au voeu du talent », s’exclame le critique du Courrier de l’Europe et des spectacles, en 1809, à propos du pianiste et compositeur portugais Joao Domingos Bomtempo. Fasciné par les idées de la Révolution française, Bomtempo est le premier compositeur portugais qui se rend à Paris en 1801 au lieu d’aller en Italie : il était en effet plus intéressé par la nouvelle musique instrumentale que par l’opéra à l’italienne, tellement en vogue dans sa Lisbonne natale. Il émigra à Londres en 1810 pour rejoindre les militants de la liberté, où il connaîtra le même succès qu’à Paris comme pianiste et… compositeur. Muzio Clementi, londonien d’adoption et ami de Bomtempo depuis son séjour à Paris, publia nombre de ses oeuvres. A son retour au Portugal en 1820, Bomtempo, inspiré par les nouveautés artistiques de ces deux capitales reforma la pratique musicale de son pays. Même dans la musique instrumentale, l’inspiration de la danse est souvent présente : c’est le cas des variations sur le fandango, danse très populaire au Portugal, ainsi que des Monferrinas de Clementi. En 1792 ce dernier publia douze sonates “dans le style du célèbre Scarlatti” dont certaines sont influencées par la danse de l’école “boléra” espagnole.
